Principle Activities Realised

1) Human rights Promotion

Human rights education and sensitisation of youth in secondary schools and out of school youths. In particular, the creation of human rights clubs in secondary schools and  Focal points in Districts as well as introducing a culture of Debating is among the key strategies used by the organisation.

2) Human rights protection

Thematic and spontaneous monitoring, investigating, and denouncing cases involving human rights violations as well as offering legal assistance to vulnerable victims in particular youth and children.

3)Development

Research and Advocacy on Socio-Economic policies aimed at improving the socio-economic welfare of the youth and the entire populace including mobilising youth active participation in National Development activities. Also activities include training of youth on project design and implementation, as well as managing Associations/Cooperatives.

4)Research and Advocacy

Research and advocacy on socio-economic policies aimed at socio-economic betterment of the youth and the entire populace.

5)Contributing to the organisation of Civil Society

Promotion of networking and advocacy involving various civil society organisations to influence the formulation , implementation and follow-up of National Policies and Legislations.

6)Capacity building.

Activities aimed at empowering the the Association in general and her members in particular to achieve her Mission and Vision.

7)Cross Cutting Activities

Gender Promotion , HIV/AIDS prevention and Environment protection activities have always been cross-cutting issues in all the activities undertaken by the Association.

We have three key programmes:

1. (Human Rights and Access to Justice)
Promoting and Protecting youth Human Rights and engaging in policy influence, human rights monitoring and intervention, and legal aid activities.

2. (Democracy and Governance)
Increasing youth participation in leadership and good governance promoting activities.

3. (Youth Economic Empowerment)
Increasing opportunities for youth to gain skills and experience in income-generating activities with a focus on environmental sustainability, and also on opportunities to gain access financial capital,

AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA was founded in 1996 by Students at the National University of Rwanda as a Students Association for Human Rights Promotion.

On 30th September 1997,the Association was transformed into a Youth Association for Human Rights Promotion and Development in order to accommodate both schooling and out of school youth as well as adopting an integrated approach for promoting human rights and development.

The Headquarters of the Association are in Kigali City Gasabo district, Kacyiru Sector. It has branch offices in the Eastern, Western and Southern Province.
